In 2025, Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) is expected to see wider adoption across various specialties, with a focus on utilizing advanced technology like AI and machine learning to analyze patient data, leading to more personalized care plans and improved patient outcomeskey changes include potential updates to CPT codes for better reimbursement, broader application beyond chronic conditions, and a greater emphasis on patient engagement through user-friendly tools for self-management. 2025 CPT Code Updates

Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) services

These services involve the monitoring of data related to signs, symptoms and functions of a therapeutic response. Notable changes to RTM CPT are as follows:

  • 98975 updated to include digital therapeutic (DTx) intervention, such as initial set-up and patient education on the use of equipment.
  • 98976–98978 revised to include device supply for data access or data transmissions to support remote therapeutic monitoring of patients.
  • 98980 revised to apply to provider services that last fewer than 20 minutes (currently, the code requires 20 minutes or more.
